Nordic Digital Health & Education - NorDigHE
Nordsjællands Hospital is an emergency hospital serving 323,000 citizens in the northern part of Zealand. The hospital has departments and functions at three locations: Hillerød, Frederikssund, and Helsingør Health Center. The hospital also operates Montebello – a rehabilitation department in Spain. Each year, 130,000 citizens are treated in the emergency rooms and emergency clinics of Nordsjællands Hospital, with 70,000 being admitted. The hospital is responsible for over 12 million blood tests and 250,000 X-ray examinations and scans.
Every year, new citizens of the world are welcomed as 4,000 babies are born at the hospital.
In the future, the cadastral office in Hillerød will move to the New Hospital North Zealand, which is being built in scenic areas just outside Hillerød. The plan is for the hospital to be ready for patients and staff in 2026. New Hospital North Zealand is surrounded by the vision 'Vitality'. Vitality is about daring.
It is about distinguishing between what we should do, what we can do, and what we dare to do. To dare is to set new goals, to step forward and say that we must do better, and then actually do so. And when we want to do something better, we need to think innovatively. In healthcare, innovation is increasingly happening through the intersection of new technologies such as data technology, digitalization, biotechnology, genetic engineering, nanotechnology, artificial intelligence, and robotics. This provides us with unique opportunities, not only in Denmark but worldwide.
With such a large patient intake, Nordsjællands Hospital has a strong motivating factor to be a Lead Partner in NorDigHE. The hospital has a great vision of working with digital development. Nordsjællands Hospital already possesses significant expertise and knowledge in the implementation of digital admissions, and this home admission model has helped shape the framework for how essential the education of clinicians in the healthcare system is.
To be prepared for the future and the digital transition in the healthcare system, it is crucial to train current and future personnel in Scandinavia. Therefore, with our knowledge in this field, we want to collaborate with the consortium's partners to create training in digitally managing and consulting patients. Knowledge creates security, and we aim to provide that security to everyone in the healthcare system, whether they are patients or clinicians.
As the Lead Partner, it is our responsibility to achieve our goals with the project, ensuring we end up with a finished and usable product. We aim to evaluate the impact and adapt the training so that its user-friendliness is evident.
